SPORTS FIRST RESPONDER

SFR provides the health care professional with sports-adapted emergency care training at the level of “First Responder”. The original SFR course was created by a CAT(C)/EMT over thirty years ago in the mid-nineties. It has evolved and continues to be the leader in the provision of evidence-based emergency care training for sports side-line health care professionals. The Canadian Red Cross FR/BLS (First Responder/BLS) curriculum is embedded within the course with adaptations for the sports medicine milieu. The new hybrid format allows participants advanced access to the "digital first" theoretical components and updates in the Learning Management System (LMS). The on-site portion provides skill practice and integration within a scenario-based learning environment. Sports-adapted topics include: ABC's of field intervention, Stop The Bleed, advanced airway/ventilation management skills, SCA in sport, major and minor TBI, spinal motion restriction (SMR), sports equipment extrication (urgent/non-urgent), thermogenic emergencies, MSK urgent care, hands-on skill training with sports-specific scenarios, mock-ups/debriefing.

SIDELINE CARE MODULES
Sports Sideline Care is a field intervention skills and simulation workshop for health care professionals. It was designed for those needing a pre-season refresher to sharpen their sideline emergency care skills. The hybrid format provides participants will a "digital first" access to the theoretical components and updates in the LMS (Learning Management System) . The on-site portion provides skill practice and integration within a scenario-based learning environment. Topics include: ABC's of field intervention, airway/ventilation skills, Spinal Motion Restriction (SMR), sports equipment extrication (urgent/non-urgent),sports-specific scenarios/mock-ups, debriefing.
