Course Objectives: This course will familiarize therapists with an inter-disciplinary approach to evaluating and managing sport related mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI) in the field and clinical settings. Therapists will be brought up to date with the latest research-based knowledge about sport concussion management (Berlin 2017). Therapists will review theoretical basis and practical skills needed to manage acute sport concussions in the field setting and acute and chronic phases in clinics. Participants will identify conditions and learn specific therapeutic interventions for associated conditions such as cervicogenic dysfunctions, vestibular problems and cognitive-motor deficits. Anatomy review: craniocervical,cranial, neurophysiological pathology, clinical impression/differential dx, concussive/cervicogenic headache, symptom degeneration,TMJ dysfunction, vestibular dysfunctions, neurovascular testing and dysfunction, headache other origins, migraines Clinical evaluation: cognitive, vertebral, vestibular, vestibulo-ocular, ocular motor On-field, urgent care considerations, sideline assessment/management, SCAT5, CTSQ Concussion Guidelines, cranial nerve assessment, functional cognitive-motor evaluation, exercise prescription, case studies, scenarios, course evaluation Course manual contains more than 100 pages
